Tune in with your body and mind during this class that combines relaxing and opening with yoga and breath, practicing embodiment with gentle somatic (body movements) and observing your thoughts with mindful meditation at the end of class. We will release stress that's been stored in the body during the week, month (and year) with yoga postures that will warm up the spine, shoulders, and hips. We will restore a sense of equilibrium between the top and bottom half of the body, right and left side of the body and strengthen the mind body connection.
Embodiment means to feel in your body, to notice from within. In class, we practice doing this with kindness and less judgement. When we feel better in our bodies, we feel better in our minds. Research has shown that even 10 minutes of mindful meditation has a positive effect, reducing anxiety and fear response. When we feel better in our minds, it affects our bodies in a healthy way as well. This class will give you energy with the flow of breath and movement, meant to be light and fun, a wonderful way to begin the holiday season and take care of yourself before anything else. No need to "stop" thinking, no experience needed, just a willingness to try!
